“Dominion Over Earthly Things”

Prophetic Message and Equipping for 2023 (summary notes) 

Given by Derek Schneider to History Makers Society - New Year’s Eve broadcast.

In 2023…

1 . God is requiring of His Church to have a firm revelation of their dominion over earthly things. 

2 . We are “building for glory.” 

3 . We are to set the table for the Kingdom of God in every sphere He has placed us in.

SOME challenges and trials will continue. The previous season of trials only strengthened us to carry tomorrow’s glory. 

1 Corinthians 7:28-31

Yet such people as yourselves will have trouble in this life, and I am trying to spare you. But this I say, brothers, the time has been shortened, so that from now on those who have wives should be as though they had none; and those who weep, as though they did not weep; and those who rejoice, as though they did not rejoice; and those who buy, as though they did not possess; and those who use the world, as though they did not make full use of it; for the present form of this world is passing away.

PRINCIPLE: We must be a people who remain constant and consistent in any situation or circumstance, as though we hold to nothing above God and His Kingdom. 

Many have suffered great loss in this past season, of all kinds. Why has God allowed this? He is training us to remain firm in dominion and faith whether we abound or whether we are abased. 

He has brought His Church to a place of constant surrender to teach us to be flexible. 

Paul says that “He who has, should behave as though he does not have.” 

PRINCIPLE: We should find our joy not based upon what we have. No matter what you have, live as though you can be without. Practice this firmness of faith. 

PRINCIPLE: We as over-comers don’t determine our wealth by what we possess.

Happiness should not be determined by “things” or circumstances. Paul says "He who has, should behave as though he does not have." 

Adam and Eve were already walking in their dominion, and God wanted them to rely on that dominion, to subdue the earth. The serpent brought a physical tangible “fruit” (of the earth) to tempt them. Satan dismantled their dominion by using an earthly distraction. God wanted them to have dominion over earthly things and temptations. 

PRINCIPLE: In 2023 cast off the distraction of what “you think you need.”

The kind of dominion God desires for us, is His own dominion. 

He desires us to walk in a dominion that is greater than the tangible things of this world. 

How can we do this?

1 . Having a love for God proven by obedience. 

1 John 5:3,4

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. For whoever has been born of God overcomes the world;

2 . Having an eternal perspective. 

1 John 5:11,12

And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. The one who has the Son has the life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

3 . Learning to manage trials for greater glory.

2 Cor. 6:4-11

…but in everything commending ourselves as servants of God, in much endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in difficulties, in beatings, in imprisonments, in mob attacks, in labors, in sleeplessness, in hunger, in purity, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in genuine love, in the word of truth, and in the power of God; by the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left, by glory and dishonor, by evil report and good report; regarded as deceivers and yet true; as unknown and yet well known, as dying and yet behold, we are alive; as punished and yet not put to death, as sorrowful yet always rejoicing, as poor yet making many rich, as having nothing and yet possessing all things.

John 3:31

He who comes from above is above all; the one who is only from the earth is of the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.

Our dominion is not of this world, therefore we should not be distracted by the things of this world. 

God is strengthening His Church to live out this dominion as a glory and wonder to society. 

If you cannot manage your own garden how can you possess the fullness of your inheritance to reach nations? 

God is calling His Church to “set the table” for the Kingdom of God in every realm we are placed in.
