THE "ESTABLISHING PROPHETS" THE NEW BREED
The Prophet Elisha didn’t need a mountaintop (or stage) to change the nation…
One could say, walking in double glory found Elisha with “his feet on the ground plowing in a field.”
Elisha, though spiritual, was also a prophet of strategy, and he provides a great picture of an “establishing prophet.” One laboring in the field, (the world), establishing the Church and the glory of the Kingdom of God in every sector of the land. We find this kind of prophet in the marketplace, the education sector, politics and other realms.
✅ Establishing prophets are relatable.
✅ They have the ability to translate the glory of God in any forum of society.
✅ Establishing prophets see things through apostolic lenses.
✅ They have the capacity to build and help establish the Church.
✅ They are able to steward the Church in a season where the Spirit has been poured out on all flesh and all can prophesy.
✅ They effectively equip and mobilize the Church in a strategic way.
Establishing prophets see average believers as “all can prophesy” recipients and are willing to plow in the field, empowering a Church capable of reaching the world.
ESTABLISHING PROPHETS CAN WORK WITH APOSTLES
We see another aspect of the Elisha model as he brings the nation into a new era alongside Jehu. Jehu would be a prophetic type of the apostolic. With both Elisha and Jehu (prophetic and apostolic) functioning together they dethrone Jezebel and establish the nation.
This is the authority and greater glory prophets can walk in when connected with apostolic ministry.
I believe the use of apostolic lenses and the capacity for strategy, is one of the more unique and necessary components of the New Testament prophet. In this season God is raising up a new generation of prophets with a grace and ability to think in terms of equipping and mobilizing, instead of solely hearing and speaking from a stage.
Fundamentally there is nothing wrong with shouting prophets. We should be careful not to despise the prophet on a stage, who comes under the power of the Holy Spirit and releases a genuine word. A mature Church should look for the word of the Lord amidst any kind of epic (or sometimes even offensive) loud packaging. But I do believe we as the Church are entering a time of the upgrade and a prophetic glory that builds and establishes.
The new season of prophetic glory consists of plowing and providing more traction for the Church to build on. Through the prophetic influence of a mature body working together, we will see the Church of Christ develop and move forward in her purpose and destiny.
One would think the measurement of a prophet involves the accuracy of the words they release. However, since we find ourselves in the last days when “all can prophesy,” the gift of prophet takes on an equipping and mobilizing dimension.
Yes, they will continue functioning in the dimension of inspiration, revelation and voice, but they will also see beyond themselves and their word with apostolic lenses, and a motivation to build the whole.
Until we reach maturity 🙏
