PERMISSION TO SPEAK!
When God told Moses “speak to the rock” to release living water a second time, Moses made the mistake of going back to the old wine skin and HIT the rock (with his staff), when he was supposed to just speak to the rock. Moses went back and went into religiosity. He went back to an old model, when he was supposed to just speak to it.
Why was this important? The rock that was smitten by Moses the first time, was supposed to be a prophetic picture and foreshadow of Christ who would be be smitten on a cross. The point is that Jesus Christ would not have to be smitten again, but once… and once was good enough for all time. Through Christ we would receive living water and never thirst again.
Since the cross and Christ crucified once and for all, we can now open our mouths and start speaking the glory! We can speak to the rock, we can speak to the situation. We can speak to the problem. Speak to your city! Speak to the nation! And “out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water.”
