THE PERIL OF TODAY’S PROPHET - The “Glamour Without Substance” Dysfunction
Unfortunately, at this stage in the game, too many prophets have camped at the glamour of “stirring the Body” from the stage, rather than “establishing the Body” through equipping Believers to hear and act, in a way that releases the glory of God wherever they go in their own spheres.
After all, why limit the voice of our Almighty and glorious God to only a conference venue through one celebrity prophet, when prophets could equip Believers to multiply the voice of God in the marketplace and all manner of highways and byways?
With the recent increase and emphasis on prophetic ministry within the Charismatic Movement (and others), we have also experienced today many of the bells and whistles of a great prophetic OVER-emphasis.
This includes prophets and prophetic ministry that is everything from provocative yet inaccurate, “flash” without substance, or downright gimmicky and manipulative.
No matter what your take is on today’s prophetic landscape, one thing is for sure, the kind of prophetic equipping the Church needs to facilitate the glory of the Lord in the earth, must look different.
It must look more like Believers equipped to release words to a “woman at a well” that in turn goes and shares a testimony of Jesus that carries such glory, that an entire city is compelled to look for Him. (John 4:20-30)
